VSTS Community Update: TFSBuild.com & OzTFS.com

Since I launched TFSBuild.com - the Team Build & MSBuild Recipes site earlier this year, it’s been averaging ~50 visits a day.

There’s some great recipes up now thanks to some contributors like dmcewing, Michael Ruminer, Martin Woodward, Mike Douglas and Eugene Zakhareyev.

OzTFS.com Subscribers hits 300

I last looked at the number of subscribers of the OzTFS.com mailing list in May 2007. Back then it was at 222. I’m happy to report that the organic growth continues and we’re now at 300 subscribers.

Why OzTFS.com succeeded

I came across this post by Simon Guest (the only guy able to logon as ‘guest’ at Microsoft) on Why Online Communities Fail.
He states three reasons for failure:

Purpose - “This online community will be for [audience] to [action] in order to reach [goal with incentive].”
Seeding - The initial “drop” of information that will attract people
