The number of TFS installations in Canberra (Australia) is growing, and the number of users is growing along with it. There has been a few discussions behind the scenes and now we can launch it.

What: Canberra Visual Studio Team System user group
When: Wednesday 24th Jan 2007, 8AM to 9:30AM
Where: Microsoft Canberra offices, 44 Sydney Avenue, Barton.

With the recent successes of the Canberra.NET cluster breakfast meetings and Anthony’s VSTSBrekkie’s in Brisbane, we thought that we’d try out a breakfast meeting. The reason behind it is that after a long day’s work people can become quite restless (and tired) during an evening meeting and tend not to participate. The other reason is that sometimes it’s considered more “work friendly” for employees and contractors to run up a little bit late in the morning, rather than leaving early in the afternoon.

Of course the other benefit is that hopefully people will be more awake and we can have some interesting discussions.

I especially like the focus for the group that we helped Nils come up with:

The purpose of the VSTS User Group is to form a community of practice for Canberra-based IT professionals interested in the use of Visual Studio Team System (VSTS) to support the Software Development Lifecycle. The group meetings will not be used to deliver marketing or sales content, but instead will focus on knowledge sharing on effective use of VSTS (tips, tricks, traps)

So go and put the dates in your diary and tell all your TFS buddies. And if you want more TFS information delivered direct to your inbox, check out the OzTFS mailing list.
