Today marks a year since I was first awarded a Microsot Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award for my contribution to the Visual Studio Team System community.
Ironically as I’m preparing to spend the day answering questions at today’s Microsoft 2008 Wave Launch, I received an e-mail:
Congratulations! We are pleased to present you with the 2008 Microsoft® MVP Award! The MVP Award is our way to say thank you for promoting the spirit of community and improving people’s lives and the industry’s success every day. We appreciate your extraordinary efforts in Team System technical communities during the past year.
For those who don’t know what it is, it’s where Microsoft recognise you for your previous 12 months worth of contributions to the community in your chosen field of expertise.
What have I done in the last 12 months to deserve this? You can checkout my full profile here, but here’s the highlights:
- Organised the Canberra VSTS User Group meeting every month
- Continued running the OzTFS.com mailing list
- Started TFSBuild.com - The Team Build recipes site
- 6 VSTS presentations at things like Security Camp Oz, SBTUG, and QLD VSTS UG.
- >60 blog posts on Team Foundation Server including a number of useful TFS tools and utilities.
What will the next 12 months bring? I’m not sure yet, I’ll know more after the MVP Summit in two weeks time.
Lastly, I’d like to thank the both the Team System community and the VSTS Team themselves for making it such a great community to be passionate in. It really is a pleasure to collaborate with such great people.
